Man Utd host the Cyprian club Omonia in the return fixture of the Europa League group stages in the 22/23 campaign. Their previous match was a rather nervy finish for Man Utd as the game ended 3-2 in their favour.
Marcus Rashford was the key difference in the second half for Man Utd as he offered pace and directness in behind which Omonia defenders could not deal with (he got 2 goals and an assist). Man Utd is coming off a decent performance from the weekend away at Everton with a 2-1 victory. It was one of their best possession-based performances of the season. They were largely comfortable in the game with Everton's lack of quality in the final 3rd proving it hard to test Man Utd's defence. Although the return of Calvert-Lewin boosted Everton's attacks in the final moments of the match the United defence won most first and second balls despite being overloaded with crosses. Goals from Antony and Ronaldo in the first half proved to be decisive. Especially for Ronaldo to score his first Premier League goal of the season which will have boosted his confidence for upcoming games higher.
Omonia lost 1-0 to a team in 12th place in their league, which could suggest that their team is losing form and confidence ahead of their trip to Old Trafford. However, the occasion and venue are bound to improve their confidence and morale once the game kicks off.
